Proactivity Research Group
Welcome to the PRO programme!

Being proactive at work is about using initiative, taking charge, and making things happen. This active form of behaviour is increasingly important in today's challenging work environments, yet it is behaviour that is hard to foster and all too easy to undermine. We are a group of researchers interested in understanding more about proactivity in the work place: When is it important? How is it important? If it is important, how do we promote it? Can proactive behaviour cause harm? Are some people more proactive than others? These are some of the questions we are investigating in our research program.

We have designed this website to communicate findings from our own research, as well as the research of other scholars, about proactive behavior at work. The website is for scholars and practitioners who want to learn more about proactivity in the work place - what it is, its consequences, and how it might be inhibited or enhanced. As well as information about proactivity, publications, and events, a feature of this website is the Global Network of Scholars where researchers can describe their on-going work in this area.
